Job description
KA3 Park Attendant 3 – Paint Lake Provincial Park

Seasonal position, operating May through September. The incumbent will work five days per week, including weekends and some evening shifts, and may be required to live in an on‑site bunkhouse.

Duties

The incumbent is responsible to provide guided experiences to inspire stewardship of our park system’s natural features, culture, and history. Responsibilities include programming such as trail hikes, roving trailheads and campgrounds, campfire talks and amphitheatre presentations, school groups and visitor centre operation. The incumbent also plans and delivers programs and supervises junior staff and volunteers.

Essential Qualifications
  • Completion of minimum one-year of post‑secondary education in a related field such as biological/natural sciences, natural resource management, education, Indigenous studies, history, recreation/tourism. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Strong verbal communication skills including experience speaking to groups.
  • Experience working with the public in a park, museum, retail or other customer service role.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision with good time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with the public.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing and delivering interpretive programs at a natural, cultural, or historical site, such as a park or museum.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations for visitors in Manitoba's provincial parks.
  • Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in French is an asset.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of natural, cultural and historical features in Manitoba's provincial parks.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Possess and maintain a current and valid Full Stage Manitoba Class 5F Driver’s licence.
  • Must be willing and physically able to perform the duties of the position including working in various outdoor conditions, walking on uneven terrain on hiking trails, and lifting and moving items.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, statutory holidays and shift work.
