A community organization in Canada is seeking an Outreach and Communications Lead to spearhead community engagement and develop strategic communication initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Communications, with 2-5 years of experience in community engagement and a strong knowledge of working with First Nation communities. SUMMARY
The Outreach and Communications Lead plays a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of community outreach and communications strategies that supportNigigNibi Ki-winGamikand the implementation of Algonquins ofPikwakanaganFirst Nation’s child well-being law, NigigNibi Ki-win . This work is done in collaboration and coordination with Algonquins ofPikwakanaganFirst Nation through cross-training and regular communication. The Lead will oversee a small communications team andensuresthatPikwakanagancommunity members are informed, engaged, and reflected in all aspects ofNigigNibi Ki-winGamik’soutreach and engagement initiatives.

Work involves contact with community members,NigigNibi Ki-winGamik’sService Managers and Director, the executive office,Pikwakanagan’sleadership and administration, legal counsel, and other individuals as itassistsin the course ofcommunity engagement and communications to the community. Work involves a knowledge of how to effectively communicate with members of thePikwakanagancommunity on the sensitive topic of child welfare and wellbeing, as well as many other partner organizations. For the purposes of this position, travelto,and attendanceat,community events, engagement sessions, and otherNigigGamikevents is vital. These may take place both within and outside of the community.
