Job description
THE OPTICIAN

under indirect supervision, provides Ophthalmic dispensing and related services through sales to patients. The Optician also serves as an information and training resource for other staff in the office to determine a patients eyewear needs. The Optician is responsible for the ordering of lenses, frames and contacts for the department. They prepare, dispense, interpret, measure, fit and adjust eyeglasses or other appliances prescribed by an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to ensure the patients are provided with access to appropriate healthcare and ancillary services.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Completion of optician certification program required
  • 1-2 years optician experience preferred
  • Healthcare Provider CPR Certification through the American Heart Association within the first year of hire required
  • ABO optician certification required within 2 years of start date
