Schedule: Monday to Friday from 10:30pm to 7am

We are looking for an Operating Engineer that will be responsible for the safe, efficient operation, maintenance, and upkeep of our refrigeration equipment, as well as building systems, in compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role ensures uninterrupted warehouse operations, employee safety, and proper product temperature control at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and promote a culture where Health and Safety is the #1 priority.

  • Carry out daily checks on refrigeration equipment, performing necessary repairs or adjustments.

  • Tour the warehouse regularly to ensure a safe environment that supports operational activities.

  • Follow preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and disruptions.

  • Monitor and adjust systems to reduce energy and utility costs.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, contamination, and housekeeping policies to prevent injuries, product damage, or contamination.

  • Maintain compliance with provincial regulations, company policies, and the Code of Business Conduct.

  • Support projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements
  • Valid 4th Class Power Engineer License (required).

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related role.

  • Strong maintenance background; mechanical troubleshooting skills required.

  • Refrigeration knowledge/experience preferred; ammonia experience an asset.

  • In-depth knowledge of provincial operating engineering regulations, refrigeration, elevating devices, building and fire codes, environmental, labour, and health & safety legislation.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities; able to identify and resolve issues quickly.

  • Positive, professional, and team-oriented work style.

  • Commitment to customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work in warehouse environments, including temperatures as low as -30°C.
