Our Verify, Fraud & Financial Crime team is seeking an Open Source Intelligence Analyst to provide timely intelligence and information to enable management to protect Aviva and consumers from Fraud and Financial Crime.

What You'll Do
  • Perform thorough desk investigations using a variety of systems to scan publicly available resources.
  • Utilize proactive case management to maintain agility and ensure stakeholders are updated and aware of investigative findings in a timely manner.
  • Produce succinct and actionable reports based on evidence gathered.
  • Observe strict privacy requirements and ensure all investigations align with applicable legislation & regulation.
  • Adhere to best practices related to investigation, risk management, and the law.
  • Develop and maintain capabilities and expertise, including participating in training on a regular basis – including tools and best practices.
  • Take part in projects and broader department strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage incoming intelligence from internal and external sources; assess Aviva’s exposure, ascertain risk and disseminate to key stakeholders.
  • Use available systems, tools, open-source and social media sites to support fraud investigations to identify key perpetrators and organised crime groups targeting the business.
  • Identify and communicate timely on upcoming fraud trends and risks to ensure the business is aware and taking appropriate steps.
  • Attend and contribute to external industry intelligence.
  • Identify fraud and FC detection gaps in existing processes and advance solutions.
  • Support the management of Aviva’s risk from organised claims fraud by maintaining and improving appropriate databases, analysis, and reporting.
  • Establish investigation strategy, gather and analyze facts, manage case file, and ensure proper documentation and collection of physical or electronic evidence.
  • Collaborate with the internal Verify team (Investigations, Name Screening, Analytics) and business stakeholders to establish appropriate scope and identify all leads.
  • Participate in Decision Panel meetings, including making recommendations on the disposition of the case.
  • Prepare intelligence brief for defensible investigation.
  • Liaise with other investigative team colleagues, and the Claim, Underwriting, Risk and Legal operations.
  • Evaluate evidence sufficiency on an ongoing basis until the validity of the issue(s) in question can be determined.
  • Attend court as directed.
What You'll Bring
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • CIP designation or working towards CIP
  • Minimum 3+ years in open source investigation / desk investigation
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on granular details and utilize analysis to improve investigative outcomes.
  • Experience working alone under minimal supervision for extended periods.
  • Strong risk assessment and control skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Confidence in making objective decisions in high-risk or legally sensitive matters
  • Solid understanding of OSINT case law and applicable privacy legislation
  • Strong Reporting and Communication Skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Technical knowledge of all insurance lines of business, including policies, claims, and related legislation
  • Investigative competency to determine strategies and requirements (including legislation)
  • Bilingualism is an asset
