Come work as a Obstetrics/Gynaecology Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! An exciting opportunity is available to join the perinatal service in beautiful Squamish, BC. The Department of OBGYN is currently recruiting for two full-time permanent OBGYN physicians to work in the community of Squamish, within the Sea to Sky corridor.

Role and Facility Information

Outpatient services will be delivered within a clinic setting equipped with necessary support infrastructure, including a dedicated Medical Office Assistant and an electronic medical records system. Elective gynecology surgeries will be performed at Squamish General Hospital, with OR time at Lions Gate Hospital available for complex cases.

In the Sea to Sky corridor, a dedicated group of maternity providers, including family practitioners and midwives, provide low risk obstetrical care. The successful candidate will provide specialist consultant services to support this maternity program and provide leadership in local perinatal initiatives. On‑call coverage will include obstetrical services in Squamish and gynecology and early obstetrical consults for the Sea to Sky emergency rooms and urgent care centres.

Squamish Hospital currently has almost 400 births per year, with potential for growth. Patients with obstetrical, medical or surgical risk factors will be referred to Lions Gate Hospital for care. Squamish General Hospital has a Level 2 BC Maternal and Neonatal Tier of service, so cases younger than 36 weeks gestational age are referred to other hospitals.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for and hold a clinical appointment with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia, involving learners in clinical activity and participating in program development and student evaluation. Affiliation and collaboration will also occur with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lions Gate Hospital and other Coastal Community of Care sites.
