About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, The Learning Institute, the Nursing Instructor IV is responsible for planning, executing and evaluating professional development learning experiences for entry level and specialty level programming and assisting the Nurse Educator in curriculum development through the Learning Institute’s Provincial Mandate. This position promotes the advancement of professional nursing practice within the Nova Scotia health care community. The Nursing Instructor IV has the primary responsibility to maintain and deliver educational programming for Registered Nurses, both in classroom and web-based delivery. The Nursing Instructor IV practices according to the Registered Nurses Act, Nova Scotia College of Nursing, and Standards of Practice of Registered Nurses.

This position will support Nurse Transition Program with a particular focus on blended learning.

Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Nova Scotia. A valid driver’s license and access to transportation is required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science of Nursing required
  • Active practicing license in good standing with Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN) required
  • Certificate course or CNA certification in Medical/Surgicalnursing required
  • Certificate course in adult education (or equivalency) preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years\' recent and continuous clinical experience in Medical/Surgical nursing required
  • Current experience with classroom, on-line and skill/simulation teaching, including low to high fidelity simulation required
  • Current experience with coordinating and implementing skill and simulated based teaching and assessment methods required
  • Previous preceptor experience required
  • BLS for Health Care Providers certification required
  • Demonstrated recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in practice and education
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interprofessional groups of learners/employees in a variety of educational settings (e.g. classroom, online, lab, practice setting)
  • Proficiency with computer skills and applications including Complete Microsoft Suite; internet browsers; Learning Management Systems; Web-based classroom and discussion boards

Hours

Permanent, Full-Time (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation and Benefits

$50.80 - $60.63 hourly
$62.74 hourly with 25 years\' nursing experience
