Overview

The Network Analyst, Information and Communication Technology provides operational support for the university’s network infrastructure with a primary focus on system administration for network services. This includes configuring, monitoring, and maintaining backend platforms that support wired and wireless networking, telephony, electronic door access, and video surveillance systems. This role also performs troubleshooting and sustainment activities to support reliable service delivery and contributes to accurate documentation and process improvement. Installation and verification of network devices occur as needed, alongside collaboration with senior analysts and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities
  • Performs system administration for network-related platforms such as configuration, monitoring, and routine maintenance of backend systems supporting wired and wireless networking, telephony, electronic door access, and video surveillance systems (VSS).
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues across network services and infrastructure, including wired and wireless devices, telephony systems, video surveillance platforms, and electronic door access controls, minimizing service downtime.
  • Troubleshoots and performs backend administration for ancillary network systems, including DNS, DHCP, authentication services, and network monitoring tools, working collaboratively with senior resources to resolve complex issues.
  • Monitors system health and performance metrics for network services, proactively identifying issues and recommending improvements.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and asset records.
  • Contributes to the development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support consistent and reliable network operations.
  • Performs sustainment activities for network infrastructure, including applying firmware updates, conducting preventive maintenance, and monitoring systems for compliance with operational standards and security requirements.
  • Assists in developing and testing automation scripts or tools to streamline routine network administration tasks.
  • Responds to service tickets and operational requests, diagnosing issues and implementing solutions to support timely and effective resolution.
  • Supports technologies operated by other business units, including intrusion alarm systems and other security-related infrastructure, assisting with integration and operational activities.
  • Collaborates with other network and infrastructure team members during installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities, contributing to knowledge sharing and cross-training to support skills development and efficient service delivery.
  • Participates in planning and execution of scheduled maintenance windows, minimizing disruption to services.
  • Installs and verifies network devices, including switches, wireless access points, video surveillance cameras, and electronic door access controllers, in network closets, data centers, and campus locations.
  • Verifies adherence to unit standards and facilitates proper transition to operations for installations completed by external contractors or other teams.
  • Performs physical installation tasks, including lifting equipment, running cables, and working in various campus locations, following safe work practices and ergonomic guidelines.
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment.

Qualifications
  • A diploma in computer science, information technology, telecommunications, or a related field; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent are considered assets.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in network support, infrastructure maintenance, or system administration in a large-scale environment.
  • Experience with physical network installation and testing in combined fiber and copper networks, basic switch and wireless configuration, and support of security-related systems such as access control, video surveillance systems, and intrusion alarms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise network environments and service ticketing systems is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across physical and logical network layers.
  • Familiarity with network hardware such as switches, routers, wireless access points and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS).
  • Basic understanding of system administration tasks for access control, video surveillance, telephony, and intrusion detection platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and configuration guides.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical tasks in various locations across campus including but not limited to equipment installation and lifting, wiring, work in constrained areas, and work at modest heights.
  • Familiarity with tools such as network analyzers, cable testers, and configuration utilities.
