Job summary

A leading Canadian shipbuilding company in Dartmouth is searching for a Structures Engineer to play a key role in designing and constructing vessels for the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard. The ideal candidate will have a B.Eng., relevant technical experience in ship design or construction, and be familiar with relevant industry standards. Qualifications

  • 4–10 years of experience in ship design, construction, or related environments.
  • Author and maintain processes for recurring engineering tasks.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage planned and emergent engineering work within assigned scope.
  • Support both internal and external stakeholders with technical expertise.
  • Develop routine engineering deliverables.
  • Review technical reports and models produced by subcontractors.
  • Apply risk-based decision making to resolve technical challenges.

Skills

Knowledge of naval or modern ship design
Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations
Understanding of scheduling and deadlines
Working knowledge of shipyard disciplines
Experience in ship design or shipbuilding

Education

Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or equivalent
Degree in Naval Architecture considered an asset
