Position Details:

  • Wage Range: TBD Hourly

Job Overview:

Work performed under the direction of the Grounds Lead Hand and the Operations Services Manager includes:

  1. Maintaining all grounds owned and operated by the Municipality of Jasper as directed by the Lead Hand.
  2. Assisting with the development of new grounds areas as directed by the Lead Hand or Manager.
  3. Operating equipment needed for landscaping and assisting roads and streets if required.
  4. Operating and maintaining equipment as per the preventative maintenance program.
  5. Assisting the Lead Hand with repairs and maintenance of the transportation network, grounds, sports fields, turf areas, flower beds/planters, municipal cemeteries, irrigation systems, and municipal water distribution systems as assigned.
  6. Repairing routine items and reporting non-routine items to the Lead Hand or Manager as appropriate.
  7. Being flexible with the work schedule as necessary for the department to maintain seven-day-per-week operations and special events coverage. May be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  8. Performing winter duties as required, including but not limited to snow plowing and ice control.
  9. Becoming familiar with and carrying out duties and responsibilities in accordance with Municipal policies and procedures and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  10. Being aware of and following safe work practices, and wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) applicable to the equipment or task.
  11. Reporting all incidents and accidents to the Manager.
  12. Other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

English Fluency Level required for position: Intermediate

Job Requirements Qualifications & Experience:

  • Class 3 driver’s license is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of grounds keeping and winter maintenance practices.
  • Equipment operating experience related to maintenance.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as a picker truck, backhoe, or bobcat & attachments.
