Job summary

A manufacturing company in Strathroy, Ontario is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide support by maintaining equipment, performing welding, and conducting preventative maintenance. The ideal candidate will have relevant certifications and a strong background in troubleshooting systems as well as experience with PLCs and robotics. This role requires at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment and offers opportunities for skills training.

Job description
Primary Purpose of Position

To provide support to the plants, by maintaining facility equipment, welding, and fabricating of m/c guarding, platforms, foundry tools, flux/fire carts, scrap trenches & inclines etc

Major Responsibilities of Position
  • Maintain a safe working environment: Performing duties in a safe, efficient and proper manner. Applying and meeting all applicable codes, standards and/or regulations when doing work.
  • Records: Prepare and maintain records in ERP system of program changes and electrical and mechanical upgrades. Maintain a daily record of work completed.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Maintaining and repairing plant equipment and performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities. Support all teams in crisis management situations i.e. breakdowns. Take part in the annual preventative maintenance requirements on the equipment.
  • Training: Participating in training and skill transfer programs for apprentices with regular review of the practical training progress.
  • Other duties as required including special projects as they arise.

Educational and Certification Background
  • Certificate of Qualification, Certificate of Apprenticeship (Electrician) Red Seal (Essential)
  • Certificate of Qualification, Certificate of Apprenticeship (Industrial Millwright) Red Seal (Essential)
  • Arc flash formal training or at least 1 year hands‑on experience (Essential)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a diecast, automotive, or manufacturing environment performing like tasks (Essential)
Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes)
  • Strong background in troubleshooting hydraulic systems.
  • PLC experience – RSLogix5000.
  • Experience working with Motoman robots and Arc Flash Training.
  • Must be reliable, be able to work independently and as part of a team with a flexible work schedule.
  • Have good written and communication skills.
  • Must be organized and able to keep accurate documentation.
  • Understanding of most equipment within the plants.
  • Trouble shooting mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, change faulty components and process troubleshooting are strong assets.
  • Knowledge of company policies & procedures.

  • Knowledge of applicable government codes, rules and regulations and be able to keep up to date of changes of these codes.
  • Be familiar with the OH&S Act and Regulations.
