MGM Mechanical primarily focuses on commercial buildings, design-build projects, tenant improvements, multi‑unit residential, government projects, as well as various other institutional and light industrial projects. Our institutional portfolio ranges from provincial school projects, Canadian naval and military base upgrades, healthcare and hospital upgrades, and other federal or provincial buildings.

The Opportunity

MGM Mechanical is growing and it’s time to add a talented project manager to the team. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role is responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, and delivery of our construction projects. The ideal candidate believes in the power of the details, understands the importance of adaptability and flexibility, and takes pride in their skill at balancing competing deadlines.

The Project Manager will manage the full project cycle, including budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring all projects are delivered safely and in line with the project’s requirements. They will be responsible for coordinating consultants, subcontractors, and internal team members while sticking to project scope and schedules.

The ideal candidate will embody MGM Mechanical’s quality standards and processes and tackle stakeholder management, project issues, and reporting with those in mind. The ideal fit for this role operates best with autonomy, managing multiple projects and deadlines with confidence, care and attention to detail, and also knows when to elevate issues, like project concerns or contract details.

A Day in the Life…
Project Start‑Up
  • Participate in project start‑up meetings with clients, consultants, and internal teams to confirm project goals and deliverables
  • Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope requirements
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, and procurement plans under the guidance of senior leadership
  • Support subtrade tendering and supplier selection in collaboration with Estimating and Senior staff
  • Assist Senior Project Manager in contract and subcontract review
Day‑to‑Day Management
  • Manage day‑to‑day project activities, including monitoring progress against budget, schedule, and scope
  • Lead coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, including preparing and distributing meeting minutes
  • Administer RFIs, submittals, and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and timely responses
  • Track project costs, prepare progress billings, and forecast budgets with oversight from senior staff
  • Identify and address project risks at the site level, escalating significant issues to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with site teams to resolve technical or coordination issues as required
  • Nurture positive client relationships through regular communication and updates
  • Additional tasks or duties as assigned
Project Close‑Out
  • Manage completion of deficiencies, commissioning, testing, inspections, and all close‑out documentation
  • Support client handover and ensure close‑out deliverables are met
  • Assist in project performance reviews and lessons‑learned sessions
  • Archive project documentation in line with company standards
Team & Professional Development
  • Collaborate with project coordinators and site staff, providing guidance on tasks and responsibilities
  • Participate in training, process improvements, and best practice initiatives
  • Continue to develop project management skills through mentorship from Senior Project Managers
What You Bring…
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and practical construction experience will be considered
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction project coordination or management
  • Proven experience successfully managing full‑cycle small to mid‑size projects, including coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and/or consultants in a construction environment
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, construction methods and document workflow, and contract administration
  • Proficiency in cost tracking, forecasting, and progress reporting
  • Proficiency in industry‑specific software (e.g. MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Effective communication and organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and follow‑through
  • Strong problem‑solving and independent decision‑making skills with a proactive, collaborative mindset
  • Calm, adaptable, and resourceful nature to stay ahead in fast‑paced construction environments
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation
Work Environment

Candidates should expect a work environment with:

  • Regular site visits with required PPE (i.e. steel‑toed boots, hardhat, etc.), including walking on uneven terrain, exposure to the elements, and proximity to active construction environments
  • Extended computer and office‑based work
  • Occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines as required
