A healthcare provider in Alberta is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to deliver crisis intervention and support to clients in need. The role requires a relevant master's degree and registration with the appropriate regulatory body. You will work independently and with a team to provide comprehensive mental health services and meet the needs of clients in the Rocky Mountain House region.
Your Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager or designate, this position functions as an afterhours On Call service within facility to provide early intervention mental health services (e.g. crisis intervention, brief counselling, education) to adults and children and to facilitate access to other appropriate services as required. Furthermore, the candidate will be based absolutely no more than 80km from Rocky Mountain House due to the nature of the role. The incumbent will act as a consultant/educator to other health care service providers. A primary function of this position is to provide services in a flexible and responsive manner to meet client needs and foster the shared care approach to mental health services. Team members will provide crisis intervention services to the emergency department of Rocky Mountain House Hospital & Care Centre & will conduct necessary assessments, as well as obtain relevant client data to determine appropriate intervention (i.e. referrals to appropriate services and/or direct service to clients such as crisis intervention, brief counseling and education). The assessment and follow-up recommendations will be communicated to the Physician and client at that time. Crisis Intervention, assessment and documentation skills are critical to this role. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
