SUMMARY: As an essential member of our Street Reach North team, the Mental Health Clinician plays a pivotal role in providing expert care, support, and therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing mental health challenges and who are identified as youth who are at high risk of sexual exploitation or already have been victims of exploitation. This role is integral to fostering emotional well-being and helping youth navigate their personal journeys.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In Consultation with local services:

o Conduct thorough psychological assessments and evaluations

o Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

o Coordinate care with other healthcare providers and support staff

o Offer crisis intervention services when necessary

o Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in mental health treatment

o Participate in case conferences and team meetings

o Advocate for client needs and rights within the systems

o All other duties as outlined on the job description

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

o Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

o Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification

o Experience with diverse populations and range of mental health issues

o Specialized training in trauma-informed care

o Experience working with sexually exploited youth

o Strong crisis intervention skills

o Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience

o Strong understanding of mental health disorders and treatment methodologies

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

o Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

o Strong organizational and time management skills

o Proficiency in standard office software such as Microsoft Office Suite

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • There is also an option for applicants from the South to work in Thompson on a rotational basis — one week in, followed by one week off at home.
  • Must have excellent physical and emotional health.
  • Valid 5F Driver's License is required due to frequent travel within and surrounding areas of Thompson, MB
  • Must have Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C and De-escalation training.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and acceptable Prior Contact checks
  • Knowledge of Indigenous beliefs, customs, languages and traditions considered an asset.

SALARY: Based on experiences

LOCATION: Thompson, Manitoba.

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week.
