Qualifications

Job description

The Role

The Member Relations Coordinator supports the member relations function in facilitating trusted connections with farmer-members, delegates, and directors by planning farmer-facing events, coordinating industry event sponsorships, and engaging with farmer-members to support connections with GFO. They will interact with farmer-members to encourage participation in GFO events and governance, and will support the Manager, Member Relations, in executing department objectives.

Your day-to-day
  • Coordinate the planning and logistics for various GFO farmer-member events throughout the year. This includes but is not limited to coordination with venues and other vendors, agendas, invitations, coordinating event information for communication, and responding to inquiries.
  • Coordinate GFO event sponsorships including the review of sponsorship opportunities with Manager, Member Relations to ensure alignment with GFO goals and values, and the best return on investment. Coordinate with event organizers to ensure sponsorship deliverables are met.
  • Maintain and continually build a network of farmer-members who are willing to participate in events, video shoots, farm visits & tours, and other activities and coordinate farmer-member participation for events as needed.
  • Actively engage and build relationships with farmer-members to encourage participation in GFO governance and support the execution of other job responsibilities.
  • Support Manager, Member Relations in other activities as needed.
  • Support other GFO departments’ events and activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties, as required.
What you will Bring
  • College diploma or certification in event planning, communications, or public relations
  • 2 years’ experience in event planning, communications, or public relations
  • Experience in the Ontario Agricultural industry is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute event planning and logistics using organized and detailed methods
  • Ability to proactively build and maintain key relationships to facilitate job responsibilities
  • Capable of providing excellent customer service to ensure a positive customer experience for our farmer-members.
  • Collaborative approach to achieving objectives
  • Flexibility to travel and willingness to work outside of normal office hours regularly including evenings and weekends on occasion
  • Understanding of the Ontario Agriculture industry is considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license – a driver abstract is required upon hire
  • Bilingual French/English considered an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Sound judgment, integrity in all actions, critical thinking skills

This role involves regular travel across Ontario, including multi-day events. Candidates should be comfortable with occasional overnight stays and managing logistics on the road to ensure successful events.
