Job summary

A regional healthcare facility in Ontario is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Responsibilities include collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing phlebotomy and ECG procedures. Job description

Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital is actively seeking applicants for Medical Laboratory Assistant position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Required to collect, prepare, label and refer laboratory specimens;
  • Perform phlebotomy and ECG procedures;
  • Clerical duties as applicable.
Qualifications
  • Completed post-secondary course at an officially recognized community college or technical institution related to phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistant Program;
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (OMST) required;
  • 2 years' experience in phlebotomy in a hospital environment;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deescalate and provide a positive patient experience;
  • Possess solid technical skills for phlebotomy and ECG collection, including preparation and processing of specimens and patient documentation;
  • Knowledge of ECG billing in Cerner and MUSE application;
  • Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable
Other pertinent conditions
  • Must be available to work all shifts as required, which may include; weekends, statutory holidays, days, evenings and night shifts. Hours are subject to change based on operation needs of the hospital.
  • Salary per the Non-Union Salary Schedule ($33.57 per hour to $38.38 per hour)
