Job Description Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert in mechanical engineering for internal stakeholders across Facilities and Project Management teams. This key role reflects STEMCELL’s commitment to quality and integrity in bringing mission-critical products to market. You will work on complex problems, emphasizing design best practices to support ongoing projects.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in innovative engineering solutions for mechanical facility systems, including HVAC, fire protection, and building automation and control systems.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, develop, and present system design options based on their requirements.
• Represent STEMCELL as an Owner’s Engineer on various projects, defining and articulating user group mechanical requirements.
• Conduct quality reviews during design, construction, and commissioning to ensure adherence to best practices, codes, and standards.
• Support facility projects by developing mechanical scopes of work and providing technical support to maintenance and reliability teams. Lead consulting engineers/contractors when necessary.

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing in British Columbia (required).
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering and design experience on complex building projects, with biotech or biopharma experience and knowledge of cGMP/cGLP practices highly desirable.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling.
• Experience with various delivery models like EPC/EPCM, design-build, and design-bid-build, with a strong understanding of quality standards and engineering fundamentals.
