We are looking for a Mechanical Assembly Lead role. This position will report directly to the Operations Manager.

The purpose of this role is to lead, supervise and motivate the Assembly Test Engineering team, assuming ownership and accountability for the team in achieving goals and completing assigned tasks, as well as develop and maintain a positive value-add relationship with other production department teams. The focus of this role is to lead and motivate team members to meet customer requirements, while also attaining the company’s objectives of safety, quality, and throughput.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Achieves production objectives by communicating with other supervisors and Project Managers to ensure efficiency, effective utilization of resources, and high level of productivity on production lines, and to ensure all information related to production and quality concerns are addressed:

  • Passes on information, experiences, knowledge and best practices regarding production and/or quality issues encountered.
  • Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Resolves issues and implements change.
  • Improves production quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes.
  • Monitors and analyzes results.
  • Implements changes as requested and/or required.

2. Exercises control and direction over the day-to-day production activities and overall performance of the Mechanical Assembly team, and ensures quality of workmanship meets customer and IPC standard requirements:

  • Ensures that all required equipment and tools are kept in good working condition and are readily available.
  • Ensures all work instructions are followed and new procedures are implemented as required.

3. Accomplishes production objectives through active involvement in recruiting, selecting, coaching, training, counseling, and if necessary disciplinary actions / documenting:

  • Planning / scheduling headcount and other resources to meet production schedule requirements.
  • Review and identify areas to improve throughput.
  • Planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
  • Enforcing policies and procedures.

4. Oversee and execute initiatives and strategies to develop and ensure consistent and efficient flow of product through to the customer, and enable best-in-class service to internal and external customers.

5. Other duties as assigned by management team.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an electronic assembly manufacturing, with advanced knowledge of electronic components; knowledge of electronics manufacturing best practices is an asset.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in business administration, management or engineering of various discipline.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, team building and coaching skills are essential.
  • Able to work in a high changed / fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
  • Dedicated, professional attitude; enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Good computer skills: experience in using an ERP or MRP is a definite advantage; familiar with MS Office suite is required.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality standards.
  • Ability to learn multiple tasks and work in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
