Position Summary
Hornblower Group is a global leader in experiences and transportation. The Marine Technician, Level II will maintain a safe, diligent operation and maintenance of the engines, generators, engine room and all compartments including washrooms, provide overall ship maintenance, and assist and oversee passenger loading and unloading.
Note this is a seasonal/contract position

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide amazing hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in our RESPECT Service.
- Follow safety procedures to ensure the protection of passengers and the vessel.
- Handle lines to moor vessels to pier when necessary.
- Maintain engines, generators, engine room and all compartments including washrooms.
- Frequent inspection of machinery and bathrooms to ensure proper operating conditions.
- Manage the replacement of any machinery and plumbing when required.
- Add fresh water to vessel and pump out waste during vessel service.
- Monitor battery levels, fluid, and clean strainers regularly.
- Maintain a clean and safe engine room (clean spills, drips, and leaks) and report issues to the master.
- Record observations in logbook and relay any changes in readings, levels, or condition to the master.
- Ensure safe and reliable operation of all vessels, systems, machinery and equipment under care with due regard for SMS and watchkeeping standards.
- Inspect all areas of vessels, stages, dock and marine railway for unsafe conditions and assist in accident investigations and reports.
- Participate in emergency drills in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and SMS.
- Participate in navigational training and steerage to develop new opportunities.
- Sweep, mop and wash down decks and exterior to remove dirt and debris using brooms, mops, brushes, and hoses.
- Load or unload materials from vessels; gather and remove trash from vessel.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time.
- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- Marine Emergency Duties training certificate (training provided).
- Qualified passport required to enter the United States.
- Ability to understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers.
- Service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others.
- Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
- Wear assigned PPE (non‑slip shoes, gloves, weather‑appropriate attire, sun protection) when required.
- Walk, stand, sit and work in all weather conditions for extended periods.
- Reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 50 pounds (23 kg).
- Available for work on all major holidays.
