Job description

About the Company:

We are an equipment rental company serving the construction sector, currently undergoing major growth and transformation. While we have the foundation — inventory, market demand, tech infrastructure, and ownership support — we need a proven construction industry expert, operator and leader to take ownership over rebuilding brand credibility, and drive performance. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with large construction site expertise who sees opportunity where others see challenge and who can deliver results through grit, structure, and team development.

The Opportunity:

As Managing Director, you will be tasked with building a high-performing teams in the shop, store front, as well as onsite sales and service. Deliver operational consistency and customer satisfaction. This is not a maintenance role — it’s a fix-and-grow mandate. We are looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves, gain trust on the shop floor and on sites we’re supporting, and lead with accountability and urgency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of day-to-day business operations, including business performance management, rental sales, dispatch, maintenance, service, logistics, and customer experience.
  • Assess, overhaul and enforce current systems, processes, and staffing to stabilize and build the operation.
  • Set clear performance expectations and instill a culture of accountability, safety, and service excellence.
  • Monitor key business KPIs
  • Recruit, coach, and retain strong team members in every function of the business, including sales staff.
  • Build client confidence by ensuring equipment is well-maintained, delivered on time, and supported with reliable service.
  • Drive business development by engaging customers (current and past) and building new relationships in the construction sector.
  • Monitor and manage financial performance including revenue, margins, expenses, and asset utilization.
  • Lead health & safety compliance and champion a workplace culture rooted in respect, responsibility, and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership in operations, preferably in construction equipment rental, logistics, or related trades.
  • Significant knowledge of construction site operations required.
  • Proven track record of turning around underperforming teams or businesses.
  • Strong operational, mechanical, and financial acumen.
  • Able to lead from the front — calm under pressure, action-oriented, and respected by frontline staff.
  • Familiarity with rental software, dispatch tools, and equipment tracking systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communicator who can set priorities, make decisions, and get buy-in.
  • Must be comfortable working on-site and directly involved in daily operations.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.

Why Join Us?

  • You’re motivated by the challenge of turning around a struggling operation and building something better from the ground up.
  • You’ll play a key leadership role with significant influence over daily operations, while working closely with ownership to shape and implement improvements.
  • Your work will have immediate, visible impact on team performance, customer satisfaction, and business results.
  • Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives that reward results and accountability.
