Manager, Community Engagement (Temporary, Full time for approximately 18 months)

At The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, we are looking for a dynamic Manager, Community Engagement to join us on a temporary, full-time basis (approximately 18 months, starting in November). In this role, you\'ll design and execute events, partnerships, and community outreach programs that grow awareness, deepen engagement and support the hospital. This is a unique opportunity to bring your skills to a meaningful cause, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution which makes a direct impact on the care Guelph General provides each day.

The Role

  • Competitive compensation package; hiring range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000

  • This is an 18-month contract full-time position, based on 37.5 hours of work per week; must be flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Opportunity for hybrid work, such as one to two days remote working following an initial orientation period.

Expected Outcomes

Lead Execution of Signature Fundraising Events
  • Plan and execute key fundraising events / initiatives (e.g., Black Tie Bingo, Tour de Guelph, Split the Pot, Pay Day Payout), including vendor, partner, sponsor and volunteer coordination.
  • Develop and document sponsorship activations that align with both donor and event objectives.
  • Design targeted outreach strategies to expand community reach, building and fostering relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and influencers.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to identify strengths, weaknesses, and growth opportunities; implement improvements to increase revenue and enhance participant experience.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for event revenue growth and contribute to the business planning process.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to identify and secure sponsorships and strategic partnerships aligned with the Foundation\'s mission.
Manage Community-led Fundraising Program
  • Act as primary liaison for community members and organizations hosting fundraisers in support of FGGH.
  • Develop and implement an annual growth strategy for community-led fundraising events.
  • Oversee execution of engagement strategies to encourage and support grassroots fundraising.
  • Promote and manage the Peer-to-Peer online fundraising platform.
  • Collaborate with Digital Strategy team members to amplify community-led initiatives via Foundation channels, including the website, e-newsletters, social media, and internal staff communications.
  • Support and steward community-led drives, including toys and other patient comfort items.
Cultivate Sponsors and Volunteers Relationships
  • Develop and execute a sponsor cultivation plan to build lasting relationships with local businesses, donors and community leaders.
  • Steward past community-led fundraisers to deepen engagement encourage ongoing support.
  • Manage relationships with event committees and volunteers to foster continuous involvement and support of the Foundation\'s mission.
  • Recruit, train and support volunteers to ensure successful event execution.
Team leadership and analysis
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics for signature and community-led events.
  • Ensure accurate recording of fundraising activities and revenue in Raiser\'s Edge.
  • Deliver regular performance reports, including ROI and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead and support direct reports through coaching, performance management, and development.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-aligned team culture.
  • Represent the Foundation positively across all community and stakeholder engagements.
Must-haves
  • College or university diploma or degree, or equivalent experience in event management and / or communications
  • Minimum five (5) years\' experience in fundraising, event management or communications, or the ability to demonstrate how current experience can be transferred into this role
  • A self-starter with a solid understanding of event management, community engagement tactics, and what success looks like
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage junior team member(s) and volunteers, while also comfortable managing up to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and work on a variety of different projects at the same time
  • Experience managing online platforms for email deployment, event ticketing, fundraising initiatives, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and associated programs
  • Passion for the mission of the Foundation
Nice-to-haves
  • Project management training
  • Proficiency in Raiser\'s Edge / NXT or other fundraising CRMs
  • Experience in fundraising and / or non-profit, healthcare sector and knowledge of the Guelph community
