About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Artificial Intelligence for Intact Lab to lead our GenAI projects within the Commercial and Speciality Lines insurance sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record of managing AI development teams and delivering successful AI-driven projects.

What you’ll do here
  • Lead and cultivate a high-performing software engineering team, focusing on talent acquisition, engagement, and professional growth.
  • Continuously advance engineering practices in Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with your team.
  • Implement and refine tools and processes to boost team autonomy and efficiency, while providing necessary training and coaching.
  • Balance project needs and resource development through intelligent planning of human resources in software engineering.
  • Oversee AI-centric projects, aligning with the organizational strategies, priorities, and constraints.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner and Data Scientists to define project scope, objectives, and increments, providing leadership and vision throughout.
  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships through clear, strategic communication - ensuring alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate activities and dependencies across different project teams, manage risks, propose mitigation measures, and communicate project KPIs.
  • Ensure the integration of MLOps best practices to streamline the deployment and monitoring of AI models, including GenAI solutions.
  • Ensure solutions meets client expectations and comply with security and governance standards, while optimizing impacts and infrastructure requirements.
What you bring to the table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience, with at least 3-5 of those years leading a team focused on AI driven projects and data management for model training and deployment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with intellectual curiosity and drive to align technical expertise with business needs to deliver value.
  • Experience in coaching and developing technical teams, providing inspiration and fostering growth.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute AI projects effectively, delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and understanding of cloud cost management.
  • Excellent knowledge of MLOps; AI / GenAI models.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality management concepts.
  • Team player who fosters collaboration and creativity in an open and honest environment.
  • Passionate about talent development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Comfortable working in evolving complex environments and multidisciplinary teams.
  • An agent of change, motivated to question the status quo.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required (French and English) : Need to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
