We are seeking a Manager, Accounting & Reporting to join our dynamic Finance team. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting while helping to guide a team through a period of exciting transition.

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Leading the preparation of BC Ferries' consolidated financial statements including data analysis, integrity validation;
  • Leading BC Ferries’ quarter-end and interim reviews and year-end audits including liaising and planning with the auditors and ensuring year end working papers, files and documentation are prepared and provided as required to support financial statement items;
  • Reviewing and interpreting IFRS;
  • Liaising with the Canada Revenue Agency and leading tax audits;
  • Providing professional accounting advice;
  • Reviewing more complex reconciliations and providing guidance to the preparer;
  • Ensuring internal controls are appropriate with accounting process changes;
  • Reconciling and analysing of high-risk areas (derivatives, EFB, leases etc.);
  • Managing and training certain members of the Accounting and Reporting team including key performance goal setting and annual reviews;
  • Participating in various projects (including steering committees, tax committee).
What you bring to the team
  • Bachelor’s Degree and CPA designation
  • 5-7 years of progressively senior experience in Finance within a large corporate environment
  • Experience in financial statement preparation (preferably using IFRS) in a complex environment
  • Experience interacting with internal senior management and external advisors/auditors including managing audits
  • Application and interpretation of accounting principles
  • Experience using current major financial software (Oracle preferred)
  • High competency with MS Office (Excel and Word)

Additional information

The target salary range: $125,400 - $156,800 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
