A healthcare organization in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Worker IV responsible for building operations and maintenance at a large medical facility. The ideal candidate will possess post-secondary education in a relevant field along with 5-7 years of specialized experience in building maintenance and repair. If so, the Foothills Medical Centre, Facilities, Maintenance, & Engineering (FM&E) team has an amazing opportunity for Maintenance Worker IV (Building Operator), who can display their skills in Building Operations, while offering team-focused commitment and positive attitude. The Maintenance Worker IV position is responsible for providing functional knowledge and operations of all systems including Heating and Cooling systems, LP boilers (in accordance with ABSA), AHU's, Fire Alarm, Water Treatment, and overall building operation, all while understanding the importance of Facility, in Patient Focused Care environments, and a commitment to put Patients and Family Centered Care as a priority in decision making. The position provides building occupant, staff, and contractor support, guidance, and assistance. Performs a variety of works such as repairs, isolation, investigation, troubleshooting, rounds, etc. Makes recommendations on or implements a preventative maintenance schedule, logs or maintains records on work performed. Requisitions supplies and/or equipment, may prepare work-related reports. Makes safe and sound decisions. Assists journeymen or other maintenance staff with various maintenance, installation or repair projects, performs skilled duties independently and technical project work. Performs other related duties as required. The position will have the opportunity to work and provide shift coverage to all buildings within the campus.
As a Maintenance Worker IV, you will perform a variety of highly skilled and complex maintenance and repair work requiring considerable initiative and judgment in determining the appropriate work methods consistent with standards, regulations and procedures. You will utilize your supervisory and/or maintenance skills and experience to perform preventative maintenance and repair duties on specialized equipment and building control systems, and to provide leadership and direction to other maintenance staff in order to meet operational requirements. In addition, you will perform specialized machine repairs, as well as the maintenance and monitoring of systems and equipment. You may be responsible to resolve escalated operational issues; act as a delegate for the Manager on operational issues; participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff; assisting the design and implementation of preventative maintenance programs; estimate project costs; and liaise with outside agencies and contractors.
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or technical certification in a related field required or 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines where boiler support is necessary.
Seasoned/Specialized technical/professional experience (i.e. 5-7 years) required. 5 years previous experience in building architectural, structural and associated systems maintenance in an institutional setting. Must be knowledgeable in the maintenance and repair of buildings and architectural and structural systems. Must be familiar with the use of tools and equipment necessary to perform required tasks. Very good verbal and written communication skills. Must be reliable, cooperative and capable of working independently. Must possess initiative and be capable of giving direction and supervision as required. Must be familiar with a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance program. Must have vendor specific training courses in building systems found in acute care settings.
Safety training and certificates such as fall protection, confined space, asbestos safety, electrical safety training. Working knowledge of maintenance management software, more specifically E-facilities.
