The Opportunity

Seastar Chemicals ULC, a division of Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company, is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technician for our Manufacturing Operations organization.

This Sidney, British Columbia CAN role is full-time on-site, Monday- Friday, standard working hours, requiring voluntary on-call time.

Minimum Education
  • Highschool diploma/ GED
Required Experience (1+ yrs)
  • Maintenance, mechanical and/or electrical experience in an industrial or educational setting
Preferred Experience
  • Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors; pneumatic equipment; conveyor systems; and production equipment.
  • Following safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Following SOPs (standard operating procedures) diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturers instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies/ inventories using an advanced maintenance management system (AMMS).
  • Assisting in troubleshooting, repairs and maintaining electrical and electronic circuitry; hydraulic systems, plumbing, valving, filters, tanks and pumps.
  • Repairing and maintaining facilities and equipment.
  • With equipment/facility maintenance.
  • With power tools.
  • With machine set-up fundamentals.
  • Working on gearboxes, agitators, and pumps.
  • Repairing electrical/mechanical machinery.
  • With electrical, pneumatics, PLC logic, plastic welding.

  • Provide mechanical support for all departments.
  • Utilize business level written and oral communication skills.
  • Utilize strong attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Environment & Physical Requirements

Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort (Under Typical Positions): Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, dust or gases. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Required to stand and walk for a large part of the working day. Physical requirements include talking, hearing, bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder height, crouching, kneeling, balancing and pushing/pulling. Also requires some lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Use of both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Transparency

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$46,000.00 - $76,700.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
