Responsibilities

As a new Maintenance Team Member joining our Village Team you will:

  • Be comfortable working at heights and with exposure to outside weather conditions and understand the physical expectations of maintenance work
  • Handle Residents personal items with care and respect
  • Comfortable lifting 15-25 lbs
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents families and team members
  • Be willing to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Have exceptional time management skills and ability to work in collaboration with a team
  • Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture
Assets but not required

Assets but not required as Schlegel Villages provides training to the successful candidate :

  • Have experience working in a Long-Term Care or Retirement Home setting
  • An awareness and understanding of infection control practices workplace hazardous materials and chemicals (WHMIS) as well as all relevant health and safety procedures
  • An understanding of general maintenance and trades such as carpentry plumbing HVAC and electrical
  • The awareness and ability to operate equipment and machinery such as hot water heating systems air exchange units fire alarms sprinkler systems and / or call systems
  • Skill in operating common hand and power tools
