Position purpose

The mandate of this position is to lead the implementation of Riverside’s Asset Reliability Program. The goal of the program is to ensure production equipment operates at optimum efficiency and effectiveness through the implementation of Best-in-Class Asset Reliability Methods.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate and uphold Riverside’s Core Values
  • Understand and enforce Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Understand and enforce Riverside’s Food Safety policies and procedures
  • Assist in annual maintenance budget preparation
  • Assist in the development of annual maintenance priority objectives and vision
  • Unplanned Maintenance
  • Utilize equipment troubleshooting skills to solve complex issues and guide the team to equipment troubleshooting excellence
  • Liaise with outside vendors to solve problems and develop corrective actions for equipment failures
  • Liaise with stakeholders to coordinate maintenance team efforts to achieve the DAILY goal
  • Ensure downtimes are documented, root cause analyses are completed, corrective actions are taken, and information is passed down to the Technician level (know/do/teach)
  • Planned/Preventive Maintenance
  • Review work requests, plan, and prioritize work orders
  • Prepare a weekly schedule for a maintenance technician to execute
  • Hold WO start-up meetings and provide guidance on WO
  • Provide leadership to the team to ensure schedule compliance
  • Lead the team to develop, implement and continually improve Preventive Maintenance programs. Introduce strategies to incorporate Predictive methods
  • Technical Skills Development for Maintenance Technicians
  • Identify knowledge gaps based on familiarity with equipment, experience, and ability to perform preventive maintenance
  • Develop a skill matrix for the team of maintenance technicians
  • Develop, implement, and document training plans
  • Provide mentorship to maintenance technicians
  • Asset Management
  • Initiate and take ownership to develop solutions to repetitive failures and other issues affecting operations by reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Audit preventive maintenance work to ensure quality and provide technical insight into PM optimization
  • Support new CAPEX projects through spare parts verification, timely training programs, commissioning support, and developing preventive maintenance programs
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining spare part inventory
  • Provide leadership to implement an effective Continuous Improvement Program and promote Kaizen culture to drive Best-in-Class operating efficiencies
  • Lead the Root Cause Failure Analysis for equipment failures
  • Act as a change agent to build a CI culture using Kaizen, SMED, and Lean
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in cross-functional CI initiatives
  • Leadership: Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to the Maintenance Team through supervisory responsibilities
  • Ensure process compliance and retraining if needed
  • Assist, propose or manage capital projects as needed
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests to verify equipment meets operational criteria
Reporting Relationships
  • Reports to the Maintenance Manager
  • Technicians and contractors performing work assignments report to this position
Key Objectives

Education & Qualifications
  • Over 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Previous experience in trade will be considered
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment will be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, and Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Experience in CAD drawing software will be an asset
  • Ability to work different shifts as required

  • Demonstrate leadership quality while being a TEAM player with a positive attitude
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
