Job description
SIEL Human Solutions on behalf of our client is looking to hire a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic-Millwright (afternoon shift).

Our client, located in Saskatoon, SK is a global, high-tech engineering group providing solutions that enhance productivity, profitability and sustainability for the manufacturing, mining and infrastructure industries.

The Maintenance Mechanic-Millwright is responsible for performing mechanical, minor electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment, machines and facilities.

If you have 2-3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment with post secondary education in mechanical technology or a related field, with solid hands on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, then this position is for you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, minor electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment, machines and facilities
  • Performs emergency / unscheduled repairs of production and packaging equipment
  • Performs scheduled maintenance inspections and repairs of production and packaging equipment
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals, engineering drawings, work orders, and other information sources, to perform required maintenance and servicing
  • Responsible for knowing and following all Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, DSI, and Site Safety and Health rules including maintaining a safe-work environment by enforcing a strict standard of housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work areas utilizing 5S principles.

Communication:

  • Provide input and recommendations for equipment purchases and replacement.
  • Recognize unsafe acts and corrects the situation, making suggestions on creating a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Communicates with co-workers, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

General:

  • Troubleshoots presses, furnaces, threaders, conveyors, saws and automated production lines
  • Uses lathes, mills, welders and grinders to aid in repairs and maintenance
  • Works closely with Production & Maintenance Supervisor on various projects and preventative maintenance
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
  • Completes other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical technology or related field
  • Solid hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Responsible for knowing and following all Standard Operating Procedures, Occupational Health & Safety, DSI and site rules including maintaining a safe work environment by enforcing a strict standard of housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work areas utilizing 5S principles.
