Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shift

Job Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this person will help maintain and repair plant production equipment. This includes but is not limited to: roll forming lines, folder, brake press, shear, cut to length line, and stamping presses. The Maintenance Mechanic spends time with experienced maintenance staff learning the ins and outs of the equipment.

The individual is expected to repair and maintain plant equipment both as part of a team and independently and is expected to meet job completion targets. They will be trained on proper maintenance procedures by experienced mechanics and the maintenance supervisor and will be expected to follow safety protocols, assist others when required, and work as part of the maintenance team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs on production equipment and conduct preventative maintenance following established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues in collaboration with machine operators and respond quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Communicate long‑term repair needs and ongoing maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate notes on recurring equipment issues and opportunities for process or line improvements.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety rules, safe work practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards or obstructions.
  • Identify, correct, and report unsafe acts or conditions to the Plant or Safety Manager.
  • Support, promote, and comply with all aspects of the corporate Health & Safety program.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections—both scheduled and unscheduled—and participate in incident investigations.
  • Monitor accident frequency and history and analysis injury data.
  • Report all accidents/incidents promptly and act on investigation recommendations.
  • Maintain professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct when interacting with employees, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Plant Manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years equipment maintenance experience.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Knowledge and use of hand and power tools, grinder, cutting torch, welding machine.
  • Proficient in speaking and writing English.
  • Manual machining experience (asset).
  • Hydraulic system experience (asset).
  • Pneumatic system experience (asset).
  • Electrical knowledge (asset).
  • Forklift license and Overhead Crane certification (asset).
  • Ethical, open-minded, observant, and tenacious.
  • Quick learner, team player with initiative.
  • Capable of meeting deadlines.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Physically able to lift materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Overtime and weekend work where required.
  • Able to work shift work on a rotating basis.
