Overview

MAN Maintenance Assistant – Regular/full-time position within Public Service Delivery, Operations-District 4, Asset Management. Facilities located in District 4 in The Pas and Flin Flon, Manitoba.

Compensation and Schedule

Salary: MAN $43,158.00 - $50,713.00 per year plus Remoteness Allowance, if applicable. Closing Date: September 30, 2025.

The Manitoba government is seeking highly motivated Maintenance Assistants to work within the Asset Management Division of Public Service Delivery. There are positions available at facilities within District 4 in The Pas and Flin Flon.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Satisfactory Security Check and Child Abuse Registry may be required.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and be able to work in other locations within the Division as needed.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting, lifting, reaching, working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with general building, grounds and equipment maintenance including performing preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety, policies and legislation.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships.

  • Written communication skills.

Desired:

  • Trade designation (5th class Power Engineer, partial or full trades certificate, BOMI Certificate)
Duties

The Maintenance Assistant performs a variety of tasks relating to the operation and maintenance of government facilities such as office buildings, housing units and correctional centres. They are primarily responsible for duties such as preventative and corrective maintenance activities inside and outside of the buildings, maintaining heating and cooling equipment, assisting tradespersons and grounds keeper, performing daily checks, inspections and preventative maintenance on life safety systems and helping maintain client relations.
