About This Team

Imagine Design is the architect of a product, and Product Development is the engineer. From concept through to pre‑production, Product Development fronts the communication with our finished‑goods vendor base, launches sketches, requests sampling, fits product, and maintains an accurate data library of a product’s life cycle. Our cross‑functional group partners with Design, Concept, Fit, Quality, Merchandising, Finished Goods Sourcing, Raw Materials, and Go‑To‑Market operations to deliver commercially ready products to our buying teams.

A Day In The Life

The Junior Technical Developer at lululemon creates world‑class athletic & lifestyle apparel that is recognized for leading in innovation, design, function, fit, and quality. Under the mentorship & partnership of the TD, Senior TD, PD Manager, and PD Director, you develop the line from tech‑pack hand‑off to the production of garments.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for prototype management, style number & colorway creation
  • Maintain data integrity in Flex PLM
  • Organize daily work‑flow that adheres to GTM deliverables & development timelines
  • Develop and create tech packs in Flex PLM to communicate requirements for Design aesthetic, fit, and construction (while considering cost impact)
  • Measure and review proto samples based on submitted tech pack
  • Prepare for fittings & presentations: Measure, evaluate fit sample submit (construction, execution)
  • Conduct product category fitting with the support of the TD & Sr TD: Present style history, take notes of the required fit and construction corrections discussed for assigned styles
  • Spec and analyze garments to determine compliance of measurements, workmanship, construction direction, and maintain fit intent
  • Analyze and communicate the outcome of fittings and construction reviews with cross‑functional and vendor partners
  • Work closely with the Technical Developer & Senior TD to advance technical knowledge of our brand’s construction and fit standards
Qualifications
  • 4 Year BA Degree with focused training in Technical Design, Patternmaking or relevant experience; Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • 2 – 5 years minimum industry experience (preferably within the Technical Design and/or Patternmaking Departments)
  • Proficiency with Flex PLM or similar PLM software is recommended
  • Familiarity or proficiency with Gerber Pattern Making and/or 3D software (CLO, Browzwear) is an asset

  • Driven by the technical aspect of the product creation process

  • Working knowledge of fabric, construction, draping, and pattern making
  • Basic Understanding of Grading

Compensation and Benefits Package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay‑for‑performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $66,000 – $80,000 annually; base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and, subject to program eligibility requirements.
