About the Job

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):

  • Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population.
  • Under the direction and supervision of a physician/nurse practitioner (NP), provides orthopaedic care by performing duties such as assessing and evaluating patient condition; reviewing x‑rays to confirm plan of care; applying casts and splints; removing externally exposed pins, wires, staples and sutures; setting up traction equipment and performing related orthopaedic duties.
  • Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols.

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a leading tertiary hospital that serves a vast geographical area. The newly renovated emergency department is a major step forward in providing exceptional care to over 80,000 patients per year. The upgraded digital infrastructure and modernized digital platform streamline operations and improve patient care. The expanded triage area is bright, open and welcoming, providing a more comfortable environment for patients as they arrive. New private exam rooms and a renovated nursing staff room support staff wellbeing.

Shifts and Hours

Shifts of work will be scheduled days, evenings and nights rotating from 07:30 to 19:45, 09:00 to 21:15, 19:30 to 07:45 hours.
