Overview

Health Association Nova Scotia is partnering with the Department of Seniors and Long-term Care to provide recruitment support to continuing care employers in Nova Scotia. There are numerous opportunities across Central Zone.

There are many available positions in long term care for Licensed Practical Nurses who have a passion for working with seniors; or with home nursing, where you will provide care to people of all ages in their homes and other community settings.

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, the LPN performs a wide variety of resident care functions within the scope of practice, code of ethics, and governing legislation. The LPN provides a leadership and supervisory role to the Continuing Care Attendant / Personal Care Worker.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting clients with various personal care activities
  • Use of lifts and slings to transfer patients with a movement disorder
  • Administration of medication
  • Nighttime monitoring and assistance
  • Light housekeeping (Laundry, washing dishes, sweeping and wiping of surfaces)
  • Basic food prep of a blenderized feed for the clients
  • Outings in the community
  • Facilitation of community inclusion activities
Core Requirements
  • Current Licensed (or eligible for license) with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
