A prominent healthcare provider in Stettler, Alberta, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care. This role demands strong communication and critical thinking skills, as well as completion of an accredited nursing program. Stettler is in the Heart of Alberta, just 179 km southeast of Edmonton and 101 km east of Red Deer. It serves as a regional hub with a main trading area involving over 11,000 people. The town has a wide assortment of community facilities including an elementary/junior high school, a composite high school, a library, twin arenas, an aquatic Centre, a performing arts theatre, and much more. The area also has a few golf courses and is close to Buffalo Lake. Stettler Hospital, 50 bed Inpatient Type A Home Unit. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Knowledge of Medication Assistance Program (MAP). Ability to support the HCAs who participate in this program. Strong communication and leadership skills. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability. Required to work to full scope of practice of LPN.
Have 1 to 2 years recent experience in LTC/ Supportive living / Seniors Health. Understanding of collaborative care and resident focus care. Dementia Care Training. Experience working with Palliative Care clients and families. Palliative care education an asset. InterRAI LTCF training and experience preferred. Wound Care experience preferred.
