We are currently seeking an enthusiastic lawyer with analytical, advocacy, organizational and interpersonal skills. The candidate would join a collegial team of talented professionals and use their legal acumen to deal with a variety of challenging issues while working with diverse management clients.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct research, prepare legal opinions and provide advice to management on labour and employment law including the interpretation of collective agreements and statutes, and other legal issues.
  • Provide practical and strategic advice to management on a wide variety of labour and employment law and other legal issues, appropriate to the risks to prevent potential problems, and offer support in problem resolution and decision‑making.
  • Keep abreast of any changes to the relevant legislative and jurisprudential frameworks, including best practices in labour and employment law, and make appropriate recommendations to the Corporation.
  • Draft, review, and revise agreements, contracts, policies and other legal documents to ensure Canada Post meets statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent management in labour arbitration hearings, other proceedings, and manage external counsel.
Qualifications
  • Education: Law degree from a recognized institution and membership in good standing with a provincial bar.
  • Experience: 3‑7 years of post‑call experience; 3‑7 years of experience practicing labour and employment law and litigation.
  • Excellent communication skills, proven leadership skills, and works with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates motivation, proactivity, and aptitude to fulfill responsibilities upon appointment to the role.
