Overview

Job Title: Legal Assistant / Paralegal - Corporate Commercial

Location: Kelowna – must live near or be willing to relocate. If you do not live in Kelowna, please explain when applying. Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal to support their thriving Corporate Law practice. The firm has a friendly collegial team culture and offers work / life balance.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and organize calendars and client contacts; schedule appointments and meetings as required.
  • Prepare required documents and presentations for client meetings.
  • Create, organize, and maintain electronic files as required; update client files ongoing to maintain accuracy of contact information.
  • Lead the administrative function for time entry and the monthly billing cycle, working closely with the bookkeeper.
  • Follow up and follow through with clients diligently exercising discretion and professionalism.
  • Prepare financial forms for expense reports, requisitions, trust deposits, and wire transfers.
  • Draft and proofread documents and forms (transactional forms and documents).
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines while maintaining a high quality of work.
  • Other legal administrative duties as required to support the team and firm.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated work experience in a aw firm within a Corporate Law support capacity within British Columbia.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote role yet maintain a collegial team environment.
  • Proven organizational ability and able to exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail demonstrated via proofreading and grammatical skills for forms, documents, and presentations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism over the phone and email communication.
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced to expert level technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with legal software to assist with Corporate Law transactions and to support accounting functions.
  • Adhere to strict deadlines and achieve accuracy and results under pressure.

Your Preferred Qualifications
  • Legal Assistant diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced to expert level proficiency in ALF and PC Law preferred; proficiency in comparable legal software applications will be considered.
