Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Legal Assistant to provide direct support to two lawyers within our Litigation Department: one focused on Personal Injury law and the other on General Commercial Litigation. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing legal and administrative tasks across both areas of practice, ensuring seamless and efficient file handling, high-quality documentation, and top-tier client service. This position requires a candidate with proven experience supporting both Personal Injury and Commercial Litigation files and a thorough understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting, editing, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence with strong attention to detail
  • Preparation of pleadings, briefs, affidavits of documents, bills of costs, and motions for various levels of court
  • Organization and maintenance of large volumes of documentation using the firm’s document management system
  • Managing day-to-day file administration, including opening, maintaining, and closing files
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings, examinations for discovery, mediations, and court appearances
  • Responding to client inquiries and maintaining professional client relationships
  • Preparing dockets and accounts; assisting with billing and time entry
  • Assisting with eDiscovery processes, software, and procedures
  • Assisting with firm-wide or departmental projects and supporting other departments as needed
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Office Administration – Legal, Law Clerk, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a legal assistant or law clerk role, supporting both Personal Injury and Commercial Litigation files
  • Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and related court processes
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures (in-person and electronic) at various levels
  • Proficient with PC desktop tools including MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Experience with legal accounting and docketing software considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not required
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
