Job summary

A leading law firm in downtown Toronto is seeking an experienced legal assistant to support their busy practice. The ideal candidate will work closely with a team of lawyers, managing schedules, billing, and client interactions. We are looking for an experienced legal assistant to support our busy practice. The ideal candidate shares the firm’s vision and has the ability to produce high volumes of quality work under tight deadlines. You are client-focused with exceptional technical skills (MS Office environment) and a team-oriented mindset. You must be detailed and results oriented, a multi-tasker, and have superior proofreading and organizational skills.

You will be responsible for supporting a minimum of 3 lawyers providing timely lawyer and client interaction, scheduling, billing, document preparation and review and other tasks as assigned.

We are looking to fill this position now. This is a hybrid position with an expectation of a minimum of 2 days a week in our office.

Job Duties

You possess the ability to work independently and with little supervision while at the same time appreciating the importance of our team approach to delivering high quality legal services. Ideally you have the following:

  • 3+ years working in a law firm environment
  • Employment law and workplace investigation experience an asset
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Knowledge of Cosmolex or other time management system
  • Ability to manage calendars and correspondence for busy, remote team members
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Courts and the Rules of Civil Procedure, to provide litigation support to multiple lawyers
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to liaise with our clients and opposing parties
  • Ability to work with remote team members
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and analytical skills
