Job overview
APEX is currently accepting applications for a Lead Overhead Door Technician to join our Door Opening Solutions Group. In this role, you will travel to customer locations across the Annapolis Valley—including Windsor, Wolfville, New Minas, Kentville, and Greenwood to troubleshoot, repair, service, and install overhead door products. You will be responsible for ensuring all work meets customer specifications and maintains APEX’s high quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to and from customer locations.
  • Load, unload, and handle overhead door sections or related hardware.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, service, and install overhead doors, hardware, and related products.
  • Prepare cables and springs according to established requirements.
  • Follow procedures to maintain service schedules.
  • Perform safety checks at job sites.
  • Complete documentation accurately and on time (e.g., time cards, service tickets, mileage reports, work orders).
  • Perform other duties as required to support operational needs.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools (e.g., hammer, saw, drill).
  • Ability to read and work with imperial measurements.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and performing physical tasks such as balancing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, prolonged standing, and heavy lifting.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally overnight; availability for weekend or overtime work as needed.
  • On-call availability based on a scheduled rotation.
Assets
  • Experience installing or servicing overhead doors, dock levelers, or related products.
  • Ability to weld, use a cutting torch, operate a forklift, or use a scissor lift.
  • Knowledge of arc welding or grinding techniques.
  • First Aid or Fall Arrest training.
