Job Description

As a valued team member, you will deliver excellent service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will work under the guidance of the Sous Chef, Chef, Manager, or Supervisor, alongside Apprentice Cooks and Kitchen Workers, assisting in the preparation of various food products.

  1. Gather, wash, cut, season, cook, and store quality ingredients efficiently as assigned by the Chef.
  2. Provide hands-on support, training, and direction to Apprentice Cooks and Kitchen Workers to ensure final products meet specifications.
  3. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following food safety and health standards.
  4. Ensure proper storage and rotation of all food ingredients.
  5. Report equipment issues and food discrepancies to the Chef.
  6. Prioritize and organize tasks for speed and quality assurance.
  7. Handle and clean kitchen equipment carefully to prevent damage or injury, returning equipment to its designated area.
  8. Contribute to a team-oriented environment and maintain positive relationships with FOH staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
  9. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  10. Adhere to MLSE service standards and policies.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a fine-dining restaurant
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Food Handler Certification (Basics.fst, Toronto Public Health, or equivalent)
  • Willingness to learn and apply standardized recipes within a set timeframe
  • Ability to work in various kitchen locations
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment
