Job summary

A popular amusement park is seeking a Supervisor for the Ride Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will lead the landscaping and vehicle departments, ensuring the upkeep of turf and horticulture while managing a diverse team. Overview

This is a year-round, full-time career opportunity with benefits in the Canada's Wonderland Ride Maintenance Department.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a seasoned, hands-on leader with proven expertise in the maintenance of a large, diverse property with multiple areas of both Hard and Soft landscapes. The successful candidate will have the ability to multitask and meet the challenges of a fast-paced diverse team environment.

Scope of Position

Responsible for supervising the Landscape and Vehicle department and assisting the Department Manager with all related planning and execution of a . This is a working Supervisory position. The successful candidate will be expected to perform tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on leadership of the park’s turf, horticulture, irrigation paving and off-season snow removal efforts. This includes operational planning, supply and material procurement.
  • Providing direction and support for both Full Time and Seasonal associates in the Landscape/ Grounds department
  • Supervision of vehicle/ equipment maintenance shop
  • Planning and execution of all Snow removal, and other winter maintenance programs
  • Oversee all processes for supply and equipment purchasing. Manage expenses to achieve department budget goals
  • Supervise efforts related to hiring, training and development of full-time and seasonal associates
  • Supervise the planning and repair schedules for park equipment and vehicle maintenance programs
  • Prepare reports, complete inspections, respond to work orders, and plan schedules for grounds maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all department documentation and record keeping is complete and done in accordance with company/ regulatory standards
  • Oversee inspection and treatment programs (examples include Tree Management programs, weed control, and similar)
  • Responsible for park seasonal cleanup and daily in season overnight sweeping and washdown programs
Qualifications
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a related .
  • Degree or Diploma in Horticultural studies, Landscape technology, turf grass management or equivalent experience is required
  • Experience and training in the safe use of various pieces of heavy equipment including loaders, sweepers, turf equipment, snow removal equipment.
  • Experience and training in the safe use of both power and hand tools (chainsaws, mowers, trimmers ,etc)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use basic computer applications (i.e. Word, email) required
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license (driver’s abstract will be required)
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as required. As be on-call for snow removal as assigned.
  • Ownership of tools and safety boots
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
  • Required to meet the physical demands of the job including: weights of up to 23kg, frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending and ability to work with a variety of equipment
