Job summary

Overview

Job Title: Lands and Natural Resources Director

Department: Lands and Natural Resources

Reporting to: T’ít’q’et Administrator

Term: Full-time

Start Date: To be determined

Deadline: February 12, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

T’ít’q’et requires the services of a full-time Lands and Natural Resources Director to support the development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures related to land, resource management, economic development, and procedures related to the implementation of the T’ít’q’et Land Code. Preference will be given to Aboriginal applicants. Please self-identify in your cover letter or résumé.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research for the organization of land administration issues, and development of land and resource-related laws, policies and regulations.
  • Provide information to members and third parties about the status of their lands and issues related to the granting, alteration, transfer or alienation of interest in those lands.
  • Assist with monitoring and ensuring compliance of all leases on T’ít’q’et Lands to ensure terms and conditions are being met.
  • Act as a liaison between community membership, leadership, government and proponents.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in administration, community planning, lands and resource management, business administration or related disciplines, and at least 3 years’ experience managing reserve lands; or an equivalent combination of skill, knowledge and experience.
  • Lands Management Certificate Program or active participation in Lands Management training (Introduction to Lands Management, Lands Management II, Introduction to Leasing, Introduction to Appraisals, Introduction to Surveys and Introduction to Environmental Assessment).
  • Knowledge of Land Leasing process, Wills and Estates process and Individual Land Holdings on-reserve is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of community development and public sector planning principles and practices.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all records, materials and communications concerning client, staff and T’ít’q’et.
  • Experience in project management to meet deadlines, manage resources and reporting requirements.
  • Mathematical reasoning and financial literacy; experience managing budgets and programs.
  • Ability to utilize the First Nation Land Registry System or Indian Lands Registry System is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and database management.
  • Familiarity with First Nations perspectives on lands, resources and governance.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License (class 5) required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check.

This is a full-time position, subject to a three (3) month probationary period. Salary range is $65,000 – $80,000 and is commensurate with experience.
