Job description

Irving Shipbuilding is seeking Labourers (Industrial Spray Painters) in Halifax, NS.

Qualifications
  1. Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Years of Experience Required: 3+ years in industrial spray painting.
  3. Ability to work with various materials such as metal products, construction materials, or coatings.
  4. Complete understanding of industrial spray-painting equipment including airless, HVLP, and conventional spray painting, along with general labour skills.
  5. Must be able to wear respiratory protection as required or have a PAPR.
  6. Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
  7. Eligibility to work in Canada.
  8. Pre-employment physical required.
  9. Background check will be performed.
  10. Physical effort and work conditions include working at heights, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, working in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
  11. Support extended hours and overtime as needed.
  12. Work may be indoors or outdoors.
  13. Handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment up to 50 lbs; occasionally over 50 lbs.
  14. Must be able to work with industrial chemicals.
  15. Strong willingness to learn skills like blueprint reading and paint mark-up.
  16. Able to apply coatings at specified wet film thickness.
  17. Understanding of industrial spray painting and surface preparation standards is an asset.
Additional Requirements

All successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. ITAR regulations.
