Qualifications

Position Information

Location Coquitlam Campus Salary Range
$33.13 per hour (with wage increments to a max of $37.16 per hour). Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

WHAT IT TAKES

    • Excellent working knowledge of the operation and routine maintenance of a veterinary facility, including laboratory, surgical, radiology and anesthetic equipment and apparatus together with a good working knowledge of safety measures related to the operation of a veterinary facility including WHMIS and GHS .
    • Demonstrated experience speaking to groups and preparing written materials for lab assignments. Experience creating Standard Operating Procedures is an asset.
    • Good working knowledge of the English language (written and verbal).

A demonstrated ability to:

    • Handle different animal species compassionately and with the use of accepted professional best practices.
    • Perform all duties of a veterinary technologist, including, but not limited to, anesthesia, dentistry, nursing, radiography and laboratory procedures.
    • Manage multiple ongoing patient and student needs (i.e. multi-task).
    • Adapt to changing situations with a calm demeanor.
    • Communicate courteously and effectively in person, in writing, and over the telephone with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and the public.

Additional Information

    • This temporary part-time (21 hours per week) position is available starting September 2, 2025 to April 30, 2026.
    • Regular hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department's need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
    • The position is located at the Coquitlam campus; however, successful candidate must be available for occasional work at all Douglas College campuses and offsite locations.
