The Junior Maintenance Technician ensures the safe, efficient, and comfortable operation of building systems, performing daily inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, responding to tenant requests, managing security, coordinating contractors, and keeping detailed logs to maintain a functional environment for occupants, often requiring mechanical aptitude and physical stamina.

In addition to managing day‑to‑day maintenance tasks, the Junior Maintenance Technician oversees all activities within the Facilities Management department, including soft services, mailroom operations, event coordination, and physical security. This role requires close collaboration with the Facility Operations team to maintain seamless daily operations.

A key responsibility is monitoring the BAS and CMMS to ensure timely response and completion of work orders, accurate asset tracking, preventive maintenance, and documentation of repairs. The Junior Maintenance Technician will also generate reports and maintain up‑to‑date asset records.

During the Manager, Building Operations absence, this role provides departmental leadership by conducting maintenance, meetings, overseeing staff, and ensuring continuity of day-to-day operations.

As a Junior Maintenance Technician

HERE’S HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:
  • System Monitoring & Operation: Oversee and adjust HVAC, boiler, plumbing, and electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.

  • Maintenance & Repair: Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, perform minor repairs (lights, fixtures), and arrange specialized services.

  • Tenant Services: Respond to tenant calls for heating, cooling, or maintenance issues, ensuring high satisfaction.

  • Safety & Security: Perform daily security checks, maintain fire safety systems (monthly checks), and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Logistics & Coordination: Manage inventory, order supplies, coordinate with external contractors, and assist with event setups.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain daily logs, maintenance schedules, and work order records. (CMMS)

  • Coordinate office moves and event setups: including the physical movement of furniture, equipment, and materials to support internal teams and organizational activities.

  • Collaborate with Facility operations teams: to resolve facility issues, support building projects, and maintain compliance with safety and operational requirements.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of property management experience, including vendor oversight, administrative functions, and financial management responsibilities.

  • A property or facility management designation (e.g., FMA or BMS) or active progress toward one is preferred.

  • Post‑secondary education required.

  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment

  • Operating automated systems for environmental control with the ability to stay current on building technologies, systems, and equipment. (BAS)

  • Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on building structures and mechanical equipment.

  • Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment (e.g., gauges).

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and oversee contracted vendors using effective communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving abilities.

  • Valid Class G driver’s license in good standing, with daily access to a vehicle.

Total Direct Compensation:

$50,470 to $60,640

Any pay range is in $CAD
