Job summary

A heavy civil construction company is looking for a full-time Junior Estimator / Project Manager in Ontario. The role requires reviewing project documents to prepare estimates and supervising construction activities to ensure budget adherence. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and a positive attitude. A degree in Civil Engineering is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and project documents to prepare estimates.
  • Assemble takeoffs into detailed project estimates for bidding.

  • Ensure productive and safe completion of work.
  • Produce daily cost reports for management.
  • Coordinate various project management functions as necessary.

Job description

Bruno's Contracting (Thunder Bay) Limited is a heavy civil construction group with over forty years' experience in heavy civil construction, road building, asphalt paving, materials production and demolition. We are currently welcoming applications for a full-time Junior Estimator / Project Manager capable of fulfilling the following requirements :

Responsibilities
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, project documents, and site conditions to prepare quantity and scope takeoffs for projects of small to medium scale.
  • Assembling relevant takeoffs into detailed project estimates for bidding purposes.
  • Daily scheduling of resources and field supervision of construction activities to ensure projects are completed within budget and in accordance with relevant specifications.
  • Ensure all work is being completed in a productive and safe manner.
  • Daily production and cost reporting to direct supervisors and senior management, as required.
  • Various other coordination and management functions, as necessary.
Skills & Other Requirements
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of heavy civil construction operations and processes is strongly preferred.
  • An ambitious individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive work attitude with an overall eagerness to learn.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
Education
  • A University Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering is preferred, but not a requirement.
