Job summary

A Toronto-based technology firm is seeking a Purchasing Specialist responsible for sourcing quality parts and products. You'll negotiate with suppliers, manage inventory levels, and analyze market trends. Ideal candidates will have 2 years of purchasing experience and a background in supply chain or logistics. This is a full-time position with a focus on improving procurement processes.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in purchasing and procurement for US & CAN preferred.
  • Background in supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Electrical, electronic, and mechanical knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Research, select, and purchase quality parts and products.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing.
  • Process requisitions and update management on orders.
  • Update inventory and maintain stock levels.
  • Coordinate transport of goods and track orders.
  • Analyze market trends to inform buying decisions.
  • Coordinate with inventory team and management.
  • Assess quality of stock received and escalate discrepancies.

Responsibilities
  • Research, select and purchase quality parts, products and materials.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Assist to arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.
  • Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience using an Inventory Management System.
Education And Experience
  • 2 years of experience in purchasing and procurement for US & CAN preferred.
  • Background in supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • ERP experience is an asset - preferably with NetSuite.
  • Electrical, electronic and mechanical knowledge is an asset.
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field, additional credential in supply chain and logistics is an asset.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
