Position Overview

As a member of the Mobile Maintenance Team, you will report to the Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance and work a two (2) weeks on/ two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site, this role will be responsible for surface welding and fabrication within the mobile maintenance team. The successful candidate must focus on safety, quality, and accuracy of work and shall be adaptable to changing roles within the function. This is a six month term beginning ASAP.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • General welding work, including but not necessarily limited to fabricating, field repairs, etc.
  • Daily work maintaining our crusher/sizing machinery year around in all weather conditions
  • Welding on heavy plate (up to 50mm and thicker) to satisfactory standards
  • Proficient in SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding
  • Gouge metals using the air-arc gouging process
  • Perform detailed welding techniques and weld components in flat, vertical and overhead positions
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, specifications, production layouts and technical drawings
  • Experienced with acetylene welding/ cutting torch
  • Repair and trouble shoot all stationary equipment, Structural welding and repairs
  • Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Education/Experience
  • Certificate as a Red Seal/ Interprovincial Journeyperson Welder
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience, preferably in a mining or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated experience in hands-on support of operations, technical, and maintenance work teams
  • ASME for pressure vessel and pressure pipe knowledge would be an asset
  • Experience with stationary equipment maintenance, preventive and predictive maintenance systems and maintenance trouble shooting techniques
  • Working knowledge of SAP and basic computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills would be an asset
  • Class 5 driver license is required
