Employment Type: Existing Role.

Working Business Language: English. This role is considered a head‑office role and will require communication with internal and external stakeholders across Canada.

Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 annually, plus a competitive bonus plan, leave of absence, top‑up programs, generous vacation and personal days, premium free benefits, and a pension plan.

About Us: At Wawanesa we offer a hybrid work environment with flexibility to work in‑office (2 days per week or 15 hours per week) or remotely from Moncton, NB; Dartmouth, NS.

Job Overview

Under direct supervision, the Business Development Representative will maintain brokerage relationships between Wawanesa and its brokerage network, assist in developing and achieving targeted business goals with contracted brokers, and develop opportunities to grow the business with new brokerages and territories within the region.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between Wawanesa and brokers to ensure flow of communication and resolve concerns.
  • Maintain brokerage relationships, share production results, and set and achieve growth and marketing plans based on regional goals.
  • Collaborate with functional departments and management teams to achieve plans, including training sessions, facilitating meetings, implementing underwriting plans, and directing claim or underwriting concerns.
  • Maintain strong understanding of marketplace products, brokerages, and competitors.
  • Assess non‑contracted brokerage opportunities and territories for growth.
  • Coordinate efforts with Marketing and Business Development departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant insurance experience, preferably in Property & Casualty.
  • Strong understanding of broker operations, market dynamics, and regional business environments.
  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; insurance designation considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel within assigned regions.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, monitor performance, and provide insights that support strategic decision‑making and broker success.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and solid planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation and training abilities with capability to tailor communication to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative approach.
