POSITION OVERVIEW

Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently looking for an experienced Journeyman Powerline Technician – Transmission (full-time permanent) to join our team in Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. The Journeyman/Apprentice Powerline Technician will work under the direction of the Foreman, assisting with construction and maintenance of power systems, and replacing or repairing defective power lines, sub-stations and accessories. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of transmission construction systems and possess the knowledge, skillset and tools required to work on transmission powerline construction.

LOCATION: The field location for this role is in Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. It is a remote job with camp accommodations. This role will require the candidate to be located in Northern Saskatchewan and be able to travel to the camp site. This project is anticipated for completion in March 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair high and low voltage transmission and distribution electrical grid
  • Troubleshoot and repair overhead distribution and transmission lines
  • Install, inspect, maintain, repair and modify high and low voltage transmission and distribution electrical grid
  • Maintain interior, exterior, overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
  • Install and maintain cables making part of power distribution systems
  • Implement safety policies, transport materials, install electrical transmission systems, perform repair work, and lay underground cable in trenches
  • Assist in the construction, maintenance and removal of underground and overhead power lines and equipment
  • Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects and other operational tasks as required
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Journeyman Powerline Technician Trade Certificate or Apprenticeship Card, is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years\' experience in the trade, is required
  • Class 5 Driver's License, is required. Class 1 or Class 3 preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Transmission construction systems, strongly preferred
  • English proficiency with the ability to read, comprehend, and execute written work plans, blueprints, and schematics
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to direct a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlines
  • Able and willing to work at various heights and climb structures and perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments, including heavy lifting
  • Able and willing to accommodate frequent overtime and weekend hours when required
  • Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver\'s Abstract
